TO-1057 is an F1 hybrid tomato from Syngenta with a semi-indeterminate growth habit.
Semi-indeterminate plants combine relatively controlled plant growth with continued flowering and fruiting, making them easier to manage than very vigorous indeterminate vines while still providing an extended production period.
Syngenta describes TO-1057 as producing attractive deep-red, glossy, square-shaped fruits with an average fruit weight of approximately 80–100g.
The variety is also noted for good heat set, high yield potential, tolerance to Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus (TYLCV) and suitability for long-distance transportation.
TO-1057 tomatoes are suitable for:
G-12 Grow Bag – 12 × 12 inch 🔗
Suitable for one plant with regular nutrition, watering and support.
G-24 Grow Bag – 24 × 12 inch 🔗
Suitable for approximately two plants with adequate spacing and staking.
Use fertile, loose and well-drained soil rich in organic matter.
A practical GREEN GARDENS mix can be:
50% Bhalu Mitti (Sandy Soil) + 50% Vermicompost 🔗
Maintain reasonably consistent soil moisture while allowing excess water to drain freely.
Start seeds in nursery trays, seedling cells or small pots.
Sow approximately:
0.5–1 cm deep
Cover lightly with fine growing medium.
Keep the seed-starting medium lightly and consistently moist.
Seeds generally germinate within:
5–10 days
under suitable warm conditions.
Provide bright light after germination.
Established tomato plants generally perform best with:
6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily
Adequate sunlight supports plant strength, flowering and fruit development.
Transplant healthy seedlings when they are well established.
Syngenta recommends transplanting approximately:
21–25 days after sowing
under suitable nursery conditions.
Water immediately after transplanting.
For home gardening, maintain approximately:
45–60 cm between plants
Commercial field spacing may differ according to production system.
Good spacing improves airflow and makes plant management easier.
Although TO-1057 is semi-indeterminate, fruit-bearing branches can become heavy.
Provide:
Begin supporting plants before heavy fruit development.
Maintain adequate soil moisture during vegetative growth.
During flowering and fruiting, avoid severe drying or prolonged waterlogging.
Before planting, incorporate GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost 🔗.
Once flowering starts, avoid excessive nitrogen and provide balanced nutrition with adequate potassium for fruit development.
Semi-indeterminate plants usually require moderate rather than aggressive pruning.
Remove when necessary:
Avoid excessive sucker removal unless required for plant training.
Tomatoes are largely self-pollinating.
Natural air movement or gently shaking flower clusters may help pollen movement.
TO-1057 fruits develop from green to attractive deep red as they mature.
Syngenta indicates that TO-1057 can begin maturing approximately:
65–70 days after transplanting
depending on season and climate.
Harvest according to intended use and transport distance.
For home use, fruits can be picked when they develop full red colour and suitable firmness.
