RONCO is an F1 hybrid determinate tomato that develops into a relatively compact, bushy plant with concentrated fruit production.
Unlike indeterminate tomatoes, determinate plants reach a more limited mature size and generally produce much of their crop within a comparatively concentrated harvesting period.
RONCO produces uniform, medium-sized red fruits with good flavour and texture, making it useful for both fresh eating and everyday cooking.
Its manageable bush-type habit also makes it practical for container and rooftop gardening.
Exact fruit weight, maturity, plant height and yield may vary according to seed strain, climate and crop management.
RONCO tomatoes are suitable for:
Their balanced texture makes them useful as a general-purpose tomato for both fresh and cooked dishes.
G-11 Grow Bag – 11 × 10 inch 🔗
Suitable for one compact RONCO plant with regular watering and feeding.
G-12 Grow Bag – 12 × 12 inch 🔗
Recommended for one plant with comfortable root space.
G-24 Grow Bag – 24 × 12 inch 🔗
Suitable for approximately two plants with adequate spacing.
Although RONCO is determinate, adequate soil volume supports stronger growth, stable moisture and fruit development.
Use fertile, loose and well-drained soil rich in organic matter.
A practical GREEN GARDENS mix can be:
50% Bhalu Mitti (Sandy Soil) + 50% Vermicompost 🔗
Maintain reasonably consistent soil moisture while allowing excess water to drain freely.
Start seeds in nursery trays, seedling cells or small pots.
Sow approximately:
0.5–1 cm deep
Cover lightly with fine growing medium.
Keep the growing medium lightly moist.
Seeds generally germinate within:
7–14 days
under suitable warm conditions.
Provide bright light after germination.
Established plants generally require:
6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily
Good sunlight supports compact growth, flowering and fruit development.
Transplant seedlings when they develop approximately:
4–5 true leaves
or reach around:
15–20 cm tall
Handle roots carefully and water immediately after transplanting.
Maintain approximately:
50–60 cm between plants
Good spacing improves airflow and allows the bushy plant structure to develop properly.
RONCO is determinate, but fruit-bearing branches can still become heavy.
Provide a:
Support helps keep branches upright and prevents fruits from resting on the soil.
Maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during flowering and fruit enlargement.
Avoid repeated severe drying followed by heavy watering.
Before planting, incorporate GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost 🔗.
Once flowering begins, avoid excessive nitrogen and provide balanced nutrition with adequate potassium for fruit development.
Determinate tomatoes generally require less pruning than indeterminate varieties.
Remove only when necessary:
Avoid heavy sucker removal because determinate tomatoes produce much of their crop on a limited number of fruit-bearing branches.
Tomatoes are largely self-pollinating.
Natural airflow or gently shaking flowering branches can help pollen movement.
After successful fruit set, RONCO tomatoes gradually enlarge and develop their mature red colour.
Harvest when fruits have developed full red colour and remain firm.
Under suitable growing conditions, the current GREEN GARDENS listing indicates harvesting at approximately:
70–90 days
depending on climate and crop management.
Because RONCO is determinate, a significant part of the crop may mature over a relatively concentrated period.
Regular harvesting helps maintain fruit quality.
