Recommended Grow Bags

G-11 Grow Bag – 11 × 10 inch
Suitable for a compact radish planting with correct spacing.

G-12 Grow Bag – 12 × 12 inch
Provides useful soil depth and growing area for several radish plants.

G-24 Grow Bag – 24 × 12 inch
An excellent option for growing a larger patch of mixed radishes with suitable spacing.

Avoid overcrowding, as crowded plants may produce smaller or poorly shaped roots.

Recommended Soil / Potting Mix

Use:

50% Vermicompost + 50% Bhalu Mitti (Sandy Soil)

Mix thoroughly before sowing.

For better root formation, the growing medium should be:

  • Loose
  • Fine textured
  • Well drained
  • Moisture-retentive
  • Free from stones
  • Free from hard clods

Avoid fresh manure and excessive nitrogen, as these may encourage leafy growth or irregular root development.

Growing Instructions from Seeds

1. Prepare the Growing Medium
Mix 50% Vermicompost + 50% Bhalu Mitti thoroughly.

Remove stones, hard clods and large undecomposed material.

2. Sow Directly
Radish is best direct-sown in its final growing location.

Avoid transplanting because root disturbance may result in poorly shaped radishes.

3. Sowing Depth
Sow approximately:

1–1.5 cm deep

Cover lightly with fine soil.

4. Water Gently
Water after sowing and keep the growing medium evenly moist.

Avoid waterlogging.

5. Germination
Seeds generally germinate within:

3–7 days

under suitable conditions.

6. Light Requirements
Provide approximately 5–6+ hours of sunlight per day.

7. Thin the Seedlings
Once seedlings become established, remove crowded plants.

Maintain approximately:

5–8 cm between plants

to give roots sufficient room to develop.

8. Watering
Maintain even soil moisture throughout growth.

Do not allow the soil to remain completely dry for prolonged periods.

9. Feeding
The recommended soil mix already contains Vermicompost.

Avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer, as too much leafy growth may reduce root quality.

10. Harvesting
Harvest individual radishes once roots reach a useful size and remain firm and tender.

Because this is a mixture, root size, shape and maturity time may vary between individual plants.

Harvest progressively rather than waiting for every plant to mature at the same time.
