G-15 P Grow Bag – 15 × 14 inch 🔗
Provides additional root space for a vigorous tomato plant.

G-24 Grow Bag – 24 × 12 inch 🔗

Larger root volume generally supports stronger tomato growth and more stable moisture management.

Recommended Soil / Potting Mix

Use fertile, loose and well-drained soil rich in organic matter.

A practical GREEN GARDENS mix can be:

50% Bhalu Mitti (Sandy Soil) + 50% Vermicompost 🔗

Tomatoes benefit from fertile soil with good drainage and reasonably consistent moisture.

Growing Instructions from Seeds

1. Sowing

Sow seeds approximately:

0.5 cm deep

Cover lightly with fine growing medium.

Seeds can be started in nursery trays, seedling cells or small pots.

2. Germination

Keep the seed-starting medium lightly moist.

Seeds generally germinate within:

5–10 days

under suitable warm conditions.

3. Light Requirements

Provide bright light after germination.

Established tomato plants generally require:

6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily

Good sunlight supports flowering, fruit setting and fruit quality.

4. Transplanting

Transplant seedlings when they are strong, healthy and approximately:

4–6 inches tall

or after developing several true leaves.

Handle the roots carefully and water after transplanting.

5. Plant Spacing

Maintain approximately:

45–60 cm between plants

depending on plant habit and growing system.

Adequate spacing improves airflow and makes crop management easier.

6. Support

Provide stakes, cages or trellis support as the plants develop.

Supporting fruit-bearing branches helps prevent them from bending or touching the soil.

7. Watering & Feeding

Maintain reasonably consistent soil moisture, especially during flowering and fruit development.

Avoid repeated severe drying followed by heavy watering.

Before planting, incorporate GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost 🔗.

Once flowering begins, avoid excessive nitrogen and provide balanced nutrition with adequate potassium to support fruit development.

8. Pruning & General Care

Remove:

  • Diseased leaves
  • Damaged foliage
  • Leaves touching the soil
  • Excessively crowded lower growth

The amount of pruning should depend on the actual growth habit of the hybrid.

Avoid excessive leaf removal.

9. Flowering & Fruit Set

Tomato flowers are largely self-pollinating.

Natural wind movement or gently shaking flowering branches can help pollen movement where needed.

Maintain regular watering and avoid severe plant stress during flowering.

10. Fruit Development

After successful pollination, fruits develop from green to their mature red colour.

Firmness, fruit size and final shape can vary according to environmental conditions and crop management.

11. Harvesting

Harvest when fruits have developed their mature red colour and are firm but ripe.

Regular harvesting helps maintain fruit quality and keeps productive plants manageable.
