HARVEST KING F1 is a determinate hybrid tomato producing round fruits on relatively compact plants.

Determinate tomatoes generally grow to a limited size, set much of their crop over a comparatively concentrated period and require less vine management than indeterminate varieties.

The round fruits are suitable for general household use, fresh eating and cooking.

Exact fruit size, weight, colour, maturity period and final plant height may vary according to seed strain and growing conditions.

Recommended Grow Bags

G-11 Grow Bag – 11 × 10 inch 🔗
Suitable for one compact determinate tomato plant with regular care.

G-12 Grow Bag – 12 × 12 inch 🔗
Recommended for one plant with good root space.

G-24 Grow Bag – 24 × 12 inch 🔗
Suitable for approximately two plants with adequate spacing.

Determinate plants remain more compact than indeterminate vines but still benefit from adequate root volume.

Recommended Soil / Potting Mix

Use fertile, loose and well-drained soil rich in organic matter.

A practical GREEN GARDENS mix can be:

50% Bhalu Mitti (Sandy Soil) + 50% Vermicompost 🔗

Maintain consistent moisture while ensuring excess water drains freely.

Growing Instructions from Seeds

1. Sowing

Sow seeds approximately:

0.5 cm deep

Cover lightly with fine growing medium.

Start seeds in nursery trays, seedling cells or small pots.

2. Germination

Keep the growing medium lightly moist.

Seeds generally germinate within:

5–10 days

under suitable warm conditions.

3. Sunlight

After transplanting, provide approximately:

6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily

Good sunlight supports compact growth, flowering and fruit development.

4. Transplanting

Transplant seedlings when they are healthy, strong and approximately:

4–6 inches tall

or have developed several true leaves.

Water immediately after transplanting.

5. Plant Spacing

Maintain approximately:

40–50 cm between plants

Adequate spacing improves airflow and allows the bushy plant structure to develop properly.

6. Support

Although HARVEST KING is determinate, developing fruit clusters can make branches heavy.

A stake or tomato cage can help keep branches upright and fruits away from the soil.

7. Watering & Feeding

Keep soil moisture reasonably consistent, especially during flowering and fruit development.

Avoid severe drying followed by excessive watering.

Before planting, incorporate GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost 🔗.

Once flowering begins, avoid excessive nitrogen and provide balanced nutrition with adequate potassium.

8. Pruning & General Care

Determinate tomatoes generally require less pruning than indeterminate varieties.

Remove only:

  • Diseased foliage
  • Damaged leaves
  • Leaves touching the soil
  • Excessively crowded lower growth where necessary

Avoid heavy sucker removal because determinate tomatoes produce much of their crop on a limited number of branches.

9. Flowering & Fruit Development

Tomatoes are largely self-pollinating.

After successful fruit set, young green tomatoes gradually enlarge and develop their mature red colour.

Maintain consistent watering and avoid severe plant stress during flowering and fruit filling.

10. Harvesting

Harvest when tomatoes develop their mature red colour and are firm but ripe.

Because this is a determinate type, a significant proportion of the fruits may mature within a relatively concentrated harvesting period.

Pick ripe fruits regularly to maintain quality.
