It develops slender upright stems with narrow green foliage and attractive silky flowers in a wide range of mixed colours.

Double Mix varieties are especially valued for their:

Fuller, ruffled and multi-petalled blooms.

Depending on variety and growing conditions, plants generally develop an upright flowering habit suitable for beds, borders and container displays.

Recommended Grow Bags

G-11 Grow Bag – 11 × 10 inch 🔗

Suitable for:

A small group of Godetia plants.

G-12 Grow Bag – 12 × 12 inch 🔗

Recommended for a fuller group planting.

G-24 Grow Bag – 24 × 12 inch 🔗

Excellent for:

Growing several plants together for a broader and colourful flowering display.

Recommended Soil / Potting Mix

Use:

70% Bhalu Mitti / Sandy Soil + 20% GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost 🔗 + 10% Cocopeat

The growing medium should be:

Loose, moderately fertile and very well-draining.

Avoid:

  • Heavy compact soil
  • Waterlogging
  • Excessively rich growing media
  • Excessive nitrogen fertilizer

Godetia generally performs better in:

Moderately fertile soil rather than heavily fertilized soil.

Growing Instructions from Seeds

Godetia is well suited to:

Direct sowing.

Seeds may be sown directly in:

Flower beds, pots or grow bags.

Because Godetia seeds are small:

Sow on the soil surface or cover only very lightly with fine growing medium.

Gently press the seeds into the moist growing medium to provide good seed-to-soil contact.

Water carefully using:

A fine mist or very gentle spray.

Keep the growing medium:

Lightly and consistently moist until germination.

Important Sowing Note

Godetia seeds are small and benefit from:

Light during germination.

Therefore:

Do not bury the seeds deeply.

A:

Very light covering of fine soil

is sufficient.

If seedlings emerge too closely together:

Thin the weaker seedlings after establishment.

Avoid disturbing the roots unnecessarily once plants become established.

Germination

Seeds generally germinate within:

Approximately 7–14 days

under suitable conditions.

Good germination depends on:

  • Cool-to-moderate temperature
  • Consistent moisture
  • Very shallow sowing
  • Adequate light
  • Good drainage
  • Seed freshness

Avoid:

Allowing the surface to dry completely during germination or keeping it continuously waterlogged.

Ideal Germination Temperature

Recommended germination temperature:

18–21°C

Cool-to-moderate temperatures encourage:

Healthy and relatively uniform germination.

After germination, Godetia prefers:

Cool growing conditions.

High temperatures can result in weaker growth and reduced flowering performance.

Plant Spacing

Maintain approximately:

15–30 cm / 6–12 inches between plants

depending on the desired planting density.

Adequate spacing helps provide:

Good airflow, healthy branching and better plant development.

For a fuller mass-flowering display, plants may be maintained toward the closer end of the spacing range.

Sunlight

Provide:

Full sun to light partial shade.

Approximately:

5–6+ hours of direct sunlight daily

is recommended for strong flowering during Pakistan's winter season.

Good sunlight encourages:

Compact growth and abundant flowering.

Watering

Keep young plants lightly and consistently moist during establishment.

Afterward:

Water when the upper soil layer begins to dry.

Avoid:

Standing water and continuously saturated soil.

Good drainage is particularly important during cool winter weather.

Feeding

At planting time, incorporate a moderate amount of:

GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost 🔗

into the growing medium.

Godetia generally requires:

Moderate fertility rather than heavy feeding.

Avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer because it can encourage:

Excessive leafy growth with fewer flowers.

Removing faded blooms can help maintain a neat appearance and may encourage continued flowering.
