Yellow Cherry Tomato is a compact, productive tomato type valued for its colourful bite-sized fruits and convenient growth habit.

As a determinate tomato, the plant generally remains more compact than indeterminate varieties and produces much of its crop within a relatively concentrated period.

Recommended Grow Bags

For individual plants, GREEN GARDENS recommends:

G-11 Grow Bag – 11 × 10 inch
Suitable for one compact plant with regular feeding and watering.

G-12 Grow Bag – 12 × 12 inch
Recommended for better root space and stronger plant development.

G-24 Grow Bag – 24 × 12 inch
Suitable for growing multiple plants with adequate spacing.

Recommended Soil / Potting Mix

Use a fertile, loose and well-drained growing medium.

A practical GREEN GARDENS mix is:

50% Vermicompost + 50% Bhalu Mitti (Sandy Soil)

The soil should retain adequate moisture while allowing excess water to drain freely.

Avoid permanently soggy conditions.

Growing Yellow Cherry Tomato from Seeds

1. Sow the Seeds

Sow seeds approximately:

0.5–1 cm deep

Cover lightly with fine soil.

2. Watering

Water gently after sowing.

Keep the growing medium moist but not waterlogged during germination.

3. Germination

Germination Time: 5–10 days
Suitable Temperature: 18°C–30°C

4. Light Requirements

After germination, provide bright light.

Established plants perform best with approximately:

6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily

5. Transplanting

Transplant seedlings when they are strong and have approximately 4–6 true leaves.

Handle the roots carefully and water immediately after transplanting.

6. Plant Spacing

Maintain approximately:

40–50 cm between plants

Adequate spacing improves airflow and allows plants to develop properly.

7. Watering & Feeding

Water regularly and deeply when required.

Avoid repeated cycles of severe drying followed by heavy watering.

Feed moderately during active growth and fruiting. Excessive nitrogen may encourage leafy growth instead of fruit production.

8. Support

Although determinate tomatoes are relatively compact, plants may still benefit from a small stake or cage once fruit clusters become heavy.

9. General Care

  • Maintain consistent moisture
  • Provide full sunlight
  • Keep plants well ventilated
  • Remove damaged leaves
  • Avoid waterlogging
  • Monitor regularly for pests
  • Provide support when required

10. Harvesting

Harvest fruits when they develop their full bright yellow colour and are firm but ripe.

Regular harvesting encourages cleaner and more convenient fruit collection.
