Swiss Chard (کلرفل پالک) is a beautiful and nutritious leafy vegetable, grown for its vibrant, colorful stems and tender spinach-like leaves. The stems appear in shades of red, yellow, orange, and white, making it as decorative as it is delicious.
This imported premium variety is fast-growing, heat-tolerant, and high-yielding. The leaves are rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as iron and calcium, making Swiss Chard a powerhouse of nutrition. It can be harvested multiple times throughout the season, perfect for kitchen gardens and salads.
1. Soil:
Fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Ideal pH: 6.0–7.0.
2. Sowing Time (Pakistan):
Best sown from September to March for lush growth.
3. Sowing Method:
Sow seeds ½ inch deep in moist soil.
Space plants 8–10 inches apart in rows 12–15 inches apart.
Thin seedlings once they are 3–4 inches tall.
4. Watering:
Keep soil consistently moist; do not let it dry out.
5. Sunlight:
Prefers full sunlight, but tolerates light shade.
6. Germination Time:
Seeds germinate in 7–10 days.
7. Harvesting:
Harvest outer leaves in 35–45 days for baby leaves.
