Yellow Sweet Pepper is a mild, non-pungent pepper grown for its thick, crisp fruits and bright mature colour.
Fruits typically begin green and develop a rich yellow colour as they mature. They can be harvested while green or allowed to ripen fully for sweeter flavour and attractive colour.
Sweet peppers perform well in sunny kitchen gardens and are especially suitable for container gardening when adequate root space, nutrition and moisture are provided.
Yellow Sweet Peppers can be used in:
They can also be eaten raw when fully developed and fresh.
Germination Time: 8–14 days
Suitable Temperature: 15°C–28°C
Keep the growing medium consistently moist during germination but never waterlogged.
Warm, stable conditions generally support better and more uniform emergence.
G-11 Grow Bag – 11 × 10 inch
Suitable for one compact sweet pepper plant.
G-12 Grow Bag – 12 × 12 inch
Recommended for one established plant with additional root space.
G-24 Grow Bag – 24 × 12 inch
Suitable for several plants when adequate spacing is maintained.
Avoid overcrowding, as good airflow supports healthy foliage, flowering and fruit development.
Use:
50% Vermicompost + 50% Bhalu Mitti (Sandy Soil)
Mix thoroughly before sowing or transplanting.
The growing medium should be:
Avoid permanently soggy soil around the roots.
1. Prepare the Growing Medium
Mix 50% Vermicompost + 50% Bhalu Mitti thoroughly and prepare a fine, loose surface.
2. Sow the Seeds
Sow seeds approximately 0.5–1 cm deep.
Cover lightly with fine soil.
3. Water Gently
Use a fine mist or gentle shower after sowing.
Keep the growing medium evenly moist during germination.
4. Germination
Seeds generally germinate within 8–14 days under suitable conditions.
5. Light Requirements
After establishment, provide approximately 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
6. Thin the Seedlings
Remove weak and overcrowded seedlings once several true leaves develop.
7. Transplanting
Transplant when seedlings are strong and have approximately 4–6 true leaves.
Suitable final locations include raised beds, pots and G-11, G-12 or G-24 grow bags.
8. Plant Spacing
Maintain approximately 35–45 cm between plants where adequate space is available.
9. Watering
Keep moisture reasonably consistent.
Water when the upper layer of soil begins to dry, while allowing excess water to drain freely.
10. Feeding
The recommended soil mix already contains Vermicompost.
Additional GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost may be applied lightly around established plants when required.
11. Plant Support
Use a bamboo stake or soft plant support if branches become heavy with developing fruits.
12. Harvesting
Harvest fruits while green for an earlier crop, or leave them on the plant until they develop their mature bright yellow colour.
Cut peppers with clean scissors or pruning shears rather than pulling them from the plant.
Regular harvesting can encourage continued fruit production.
