Use a fertile, loose and well-draining growing medium.

Avoid compact soil and waterlogging.

Growing Instructions from Seeds

Sunflowers perform best when direct sown in their final position.

Sow seeds approximately:

2–3 cm deep

Keep the soil evenly moist until germination.

After emergence, retain the strongest seedlings and avoid unnecessary root disturbance.

Germination

7–14 days

For best results:

  • Maintain warm temperatures

  • Keep soil lightly moist

  • Provide good drainage

  • Avoid overwatering

  • Provide strong sunlight after emergence

Plant Spacing

Maintain approximately:

30–45 cm / 12–18 inches between plants

For especially large plants, slightly wider spacing may be beneficial.

Sunlight

Provide:

Full sun — preferably 6–8 hours or more of direct sunlight daily.

Watering

Water regularly during establishment.

Once established, water deeply when the upper soil begins to dry.

Avoid continuous waterlogging.

Growth & Flowering

Multicolour Sunflowers develop strong upright plants with naturally varied flowers.

Depending on the individual plant within the mix, flowers may differ in colour, markings, size and branching pattern, creating a diverse summer display.

Many mixed sunflower types are also excellent for cutting and pollinator-friendly planting.

Feeding

Mix GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost into the soil before sowing.

Moderate feeding during active growth supports strong stems and good flowering.

Avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer.
