Recommended Soil / Potting Mix

Use:

50% Bhalu Mitti / Garden Soil + 30% GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost + 20% Cocopeat

Use a fertile, loose and well-draining growing medium.

Avoid compact soil and waterlogging.

Growing Instructions from Seeds

Sow seeds in seedling trays or directly into prepared beds or containers.

Sow:

Very shallowly, approximately 2–3 mm deep

and cover lightly with fine growing medium.

Keep the soil consistently moist during germination but avoid overwatering.

Provide bright light after seedlings emerge and transplant once they are strong enough to handle.

Germination

7–21 days

For best results:

  • Maintain 18–24°C

  • Sow shallowly

  • Keep the medium lightly moist

  • Provide good drainage

  • Avoid excessive watering

Plant Spacing

Maintain approximately:

25–35 cm / 10–14 inches between plants

for good branching and airflow.

Sunlight

Provide:

Full sun — preferably 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily.

Good sunlight encourages compact growth and abundant flowering.

Watering

Keep seedlings evenly moist while establishing.

Once established, water when the upper soil layer begins to dry.

Rudbeckia tolerates short dry periods but flowers best with consistent moisture.

Avoid waterlogging.

Growth & Flowering

Rudbeckia develops an upright, branching growth habit with multiple flowering stems.

Its golden-yellow petals surrounding dark central cones create the classic Black-eyed Susan appearance.

Regular removal of faded flowers can help encourage continued blooming.

Feeding

Mix GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost into the soil at planting.

Moderate organic feeding during active growth is sufficient.

Avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer.
