Growing Instructions from Seeds

This is particularly recommended because Larkspur develops a taproot and:

Does not appreciate unnecessary transplanting.

Sow seeds directly into the final bed, pot or grow bag approximately:

0.5–0.6 cm / ¼ inch deep.

Cover carefully with fine growing medium.

Water gently.

Keep the soil:

Consistently moist but never waterlogged until germination.

Important Pre-Chilling Tip

Larkspur seeds respond particularly well to:

A short period of cold treatment before sowing.

For improved germination:

Place dry seeds in a sealed bag or container in the refrigerator for approximately 7 days before sowing.

is commonly recommended for this pre-chilling period.

Important Sowing Note

Rocket Larkspur differs from many tiny winter flower seeds because its seeds require:

Do not bury excessively deeply, but make sure the seed is properly covered.

Remove weaker seedlings carefully while keeping the strongest plants undisturbed.

10–15 cm / 4–6 inches between plants.
