100g seeds per pack.
Grow traditional Mongray (Radish Pods) from a convenient 100g seed pack. This cool-season vegetable is grown mainly for its tender edible green pods rather than the root, making it a popular winter crop for home gardens and larger kitchen-garden plantings.
Ideal for raised beds, open soil and GREEN GARDENS Grow Bags. For healthy plant growth and good pod development, use a loose, fertile medium prepared with GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost and Bhalu Mitti.
Germination Time: 4–10 days
Suitable Temperature: 15°C–28°C
Best Sowing Season: September - December

Mongray is a radish-type crop cultivated primarily for its edible seed pods.
Unlike ordinary radish varieties grown for swollen roots, Mongray plants are allowed to grow further, flower and produce long green pods. These pods are harvested while young, crisp and tender, before the seeds become hard and the pod walls turn fibrous.
The 100g pack is especially suitable for gardeners who want to sow a larger area or make repeated sowings during the winter season.
Tender Mongray pods can be used in:
For best texture and flavour, harvest pods while they are young, green and tender.
G-11 Grow Bag – 11 × 10 inch
Suitable for a compact planting with proper spacing.
G-12 Grow Bag – 12 × 12 inch
Provides additional root space for stronger plants.
G-24 Grow Bag – 24 × 12 inch
Recommended for growing several Mongray plants together.
Because Mongray plants are allowed to mature through flowering and pod formation, they generally require more spacing than ordinary root radish.
Use:
50% Vermicompost + 50% Bhalu Mitti (Sandy Soil)
Mix thoroughly before sowing.
The growing medium should be:
Avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer, as too much leafy growth can reduce flowering and pod formation.
1. Prepare the Growing Medium
Mix 50% Vermicompost + 50% Bhalu Mitti thoroughly and prepare a loose, level surface.
2. Sow Directly
Mongray is best direct-sown in its final growing location.
Sow approximately:
1–1.5 cm deep
Cover lightly with fine soil.
3. Water Gently
Water immediately after sowing.
Keep the soil consistently moist during germination but avoid waterlogging.
4. Germination
Seeds generally germinate within:
4–10 days
under suitable conditions.
5. Light Requirements
Provide approximately 5–6+ hours of sunlight daily.
Good light supports stronger plants, flowering and pod production.
6. Thin the Seedlings
Remove crowded seedlings once plants are established.
Maintain approximately:
15–20 cm between plants
for good branching and airflow.
7. Watering
Maintain regular, even soil moisture.
Avoid prolonged dryness, particularly during flowering and pod development.
8. Feeding
The recommended growing medium already contains Vermicompost.
Additional GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost may be applied lightly if required.
Avoid heavy fertilizer application.
9. Flowering
Allow plants to mature beyond the normal root-radish stage.
Flowers will develop and later form edible green pods.
10. Plant Support
If plants become tall or heavily branched, light staking can help keep them upright.
11. Pod Development
Check plants regularly after flowering.
Harvest before pods become thick, hard or fibrous.
12. Harvesting
Pick pods when they are:
Regular harvesting can help maintain a steady supply of tender pods.
