Grow fresh Orange Carrots at home from seeds. This classic winter root vegetable produces bright orange roots with a crisp texture and sweet, earthy flavour, making it ideal for everyday kitchen use.
Suitable for kitchen gardens, raised beds, deep pots and GREEN GARDENS Grow Bags. For straight, healthy roots, use a loose growing medium prepared with GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost and Bhalu Mitti, and avoid hard or compacted soil.

Orange Carrot is a traditional cool-season root vegetable grown for its bright orange roots, crisp texture and versatile culinary use.
For the best root shape, carrots should be grown in deep, loose soil free from stones, hard clods and compaction. Direct sowing is preferred because transplanting can disturb the developing root.
Orange Carrots can be used in:
G-11 Grow Bag – 11 × 10 inch
Suitable for a compact planting where the growing medium is loose and sufficient root depth is maintained.
G-12 Grow Bag – 12 × 12 inch
Recommended for good root development and a practical home carrot crop.
G-24 Grow Bag – 24 × 12 inch
Suitable for growing a larger patch of orange carrots with proper spacing.
Avoid overcrowding, as dense planting can produce smaller or poorly shaped roots.

Mix thoroughly before sowing.
For better root formation, the growing medium should be:
Avoid fresh manure and excessive nitrogen, as these may encourage leafy growth or irregular root development.
1. Prepare the Growing Medium
Mix 50% Vermicompost + 50% Bhalu Mitti thoroughly.
Remove stones, hard lumps and undecomposed material so roots can grow freely.
2. Sow Directly
Carrots are best direct-sown in their final growing location.
Avoid transplanting, as root disturbance can cause forked or misshapen carrots.
3. Sowing Depth
Sow approximately:
0.5–1 cm deep
Cover lightly with fine soil.
4. Water Gently
Use a fine shower after sowing.
Keep the soil surface consistently moist until germination is complete.
5. Germination
Seeds generally germinate within:
10–21 days
under suitable conditions.
Carrot germination can be gradual, so maintain steady moisture.
6. Light Requirements
Provide approximately 5–6+ hours of sunlight daily.
7. Thin the Seedlings
Once seedlings are established, thin crowded plants carefully.
Maintain approximately:
5–7 cm between plants
for good root development.
8. Watering
Maintain even soil moisture throughout growth.
Avoid prolonged dryness followed by excessive watering.
9. Feeding
The recommended soil mix already contains Vermicompost.
Avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer, as too much leafy growth can reduce root quality.
10. Weed Control
Keep the growing area weed-free, especially while seedlings are small.
Remove weeds carefully so the developing roots are not disturbed.
11. Root Care
If the top of a carrot root begins showing above the soil, gently cover it with loose soil.
12. Harvesting
Harvest once roots reach a useful size and develop a good orange colour.
Pull carefully when the soil is slightly moist to reduce breakage.
Harvest progressively rather than waiting for every carrot to mature at the same time.
