Italian Flat Leaf Parsley is a popular culinary herb grown for its aromatic, flat green leaves and clean herbal flavour.

Compared with curly parsley, flat leaf parsley is commonly preferred for cooking because its leaves are easy to chop and its flavour is usually more pronounced.

Plants form leafy clumps and can provide repeated harvests when outer stems are cut regularly.

Recommended Soil / Potting Mix

Use:

50% Vermicompost + 50% Bhalu Mitti (Sandy Soil)

Mix thoroughly before sowing or transplanting.

The growing medium should be:

  • Loose
  • Fertile
  • Well drained
  • Moisture-retentive
  • Free from hard compaction

Parsley prefers regular moisture but should not remain permanently waterlogged.

Growing Instructions from Seeds

1. Prepare the Seeds
Optional: soak seeds in clean water for approximately 12–24 hours before sowing.

2. Prepare the Growing Medium
Mix 50% Vermicompost + 50% Bhalu Mitti thoroughly and prepare a fine, loose surface.

3. Sow the Seeds
Sow approximately:

0.5–1 cm deep

Cover lightly with fine soil.

4. Water Gently
Use a fine mist or gentle shower.

Keep the soil consistently moist throughout germination.

5. Germination
Seeds generally germinate within:

14–28 days

under suitable conditions.

Parsley can be slow to emerge, so maintain moisture patiently.

6. Light Requirements
Provide approximately 4–6 hours of sunlight daily.

Morning sunlight is especially suitable during warmer winter days.

7. Thin the Seedlings
Remove weak or overcrowded seedlings once several true leaves develop.

8. Plant Spacing
Maintain approximately:

15–20 cm between plants

for good airflow and healthy leaf development.

9. Watering
Maintain even soil moisture.

Water when the upper layer of soil begins to dry, while allowing excess water to drain freely.

10. Feeding
The recommended growing medium already contains Vermicompost.

Additional GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost may be applied lightly around established plants if required.

11. General Care
Remove yellow or damaged leaves and keep the growing area weed-free.

Avoid severe water stress.

12. Harvesting
Begin harvesting once plants are well established.

Cut the outer stems near the base first, leaving the younger central growth intact.

Regular harvesting encourages fresh new leaves.
