• Continuous waterlogging

Growing Instructions from Seeds

Cypress Vine seeds have a relatively hard seed coat.

For improved germination:

Soak seeds in water for approximately 12–24 hours before sowing.

Sow approximately:

1–1.5 cm deep

and cover lightly with fine growing medium.

Keep the growing medium:

Lightly and consistently moist until germination.

Once seedlings begin active growth, provide a trellis, net, fence or other climbing support.

Germination

Seeds generally germinate within:

7–14 days

under suitable warm conditions.

For successful germination:

• Use fresh seeds

• Pre-soak seeds before sowing

• Maintain warm temperatures

• Keep the growing medium lightly moist

• Maintain good drainage

• Avoid continuous waterlogging

Plant Spacing

Maintain approximately:

30–45 cm / 12–18 inches between plants

when growing several vines together.

Adequate spacing encourages healthy vine growth, good airflow and a fuller flowering display.

Sunlight

Provide:

Full sun to partial sun

For vigorous growth and abundant flowering:

5–6+ hours of direct sunlight daily

is recommended where possible.

In very hot midsummer conditions, some protection from intense late-afternoon sunlight can be beneficial.

Watering

Water regularly while young vines are becoming established.

After establishment:

Water when the upper soil layer begins to dry.

Keep the growing medium moderately moist but well-drained.

Avoid continuous waterlogging.

Support

Cypress Vine is a vigorous twining climber.

Provide:

Trellis, netting, fence, pergola, railing or other vertical support

early in the growing stage.

Guide young vines gently onto the support to encourage a dense and attractive mixed-colour flowering screen.

Feeding

At planting time, mix:
