Use:
60% Bhalu Mitti / Sandy Soil + 30% GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost + 10% Cocopeat
The growing medium should be:
Loose, moderately fertile and well-draining.
Clarkia prefers relatively light, sandy soil and does not need excessively rich growing media.
Avoid:
Heavy compact soil
Poor drainage
Continuous waterlogging
Excessive fertilizer
Clarkia can be grown successfully by:
Direct sowing or starting seeds carefully in seedling trays.
Seeds are small and should be:
Surface sown or covered only very lightly with fine growing medium.
Do not bury deeply.
Keep the growing medium:
Lightly and consistently moist until germination.
Once seedlings are established, thin them or transplant carefully into their final growing position.
Direct sowing is particularly suitable for Clarkia because the plants establish easily in their final location.
Seeds generally germinate within:
7–14 days
under suitable cool-to-mild conditions.
For successful germination:
Use fresh seeds
Maintain temperatures around 18–25°C
Keep the surface lightly moist
Avoid deep sowing
Provide bright light
Maintain good drainage
Maintain approximately:
15–25 cm / 6–10 inches between plants
for healthy upright growth and good airflow.
Clarkia performs especially well when planted in groups for a natural colourful display.
Provide:
Full sun to partial shade
For stronger stems and better flowering:
5–6+ hours of direct sunlight daily
is recommended where possible.
Clarkia tolerates light shade but generally flowers best with good sunlight.
Keep young plants moderately moist while they establish.
After establishment:
Water when the upper soil layer begins to dry.
Clarkia prefers well-drained soil and should not remain continuously wet.
Allow the surface to dry slightly between waterings.
At planting time, mix a moderate amount of:
into the growing medium.
Clarkia performs best in moderately fertile soil and generally does not require heavy feeding.
Avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer, which may encourage soft leafy growth instead of flowering.
