Recommended Grow Bags

G-11 Grow Bag – 11 × 10 inch 🔗

Suitable for:

A young or compact Ox Eye Daisy plant.

G-12 Grow Bag – 12 × 12 inch 🔗

Recommended for growing one healthy Ox Eye Daisy plant.

G-24 Grow Bag – 24 × 12 inch 🔗

Excellent for:

Growing several plants together for a broader flowering display.

Because Ox Eye Daisy is perennial and can form expanding clumps:

Adequate root space is beneficial for long-term container growing.

Recommended Soil / Potting Mix

Use:

60% Bhalu Mitti / Sandy Soil + 30% GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost 🔗 + 10% Cocopeat

The growing medium should be:

Loose, moderately fertile, moisture-retentive and well-draining.

Avoid:

  • Heavy compact soil
  • Poor drainage
  • Standing water
  • Continuously saturated growing media
  • Excessive nitrogen fertilizer

Ox Eye Daisy adapts to several soil types but performs best where excess water drains freely.

Growing Instructions from Seeds

Ox Eye Daisy seeds may be started in:

Seedling trays, shallow nursery containers or carefully prepared garden beds.

Fill the container with fine, moist and well-draining seed-starting medium.

Scatter the seeds:

Thinly over the surface.

Gently press the seeds into contact with the growing medium.

Cover with:

Only a very fine sprinkling of compost, soil or vermiculite.

Water gently and keep the growing medium:

Lightly and consistently moist until germination.

Important Sowing Note

Ox Eye Daisy seeds benefit from:

Light during germination.

Therefore:

Do not bury the seeds deeply.

Surface sow and apply only:

A very fine covering of growing medium.

Commercial propagation guidance specifically recommends surface sowing, a very fine covering and maintaining light during germination.

Germination

Seeds generally germinate within:

10–14 days

under suitable conditions.

Good germination depends on:

  • Suitable temperature
  • Adequate light
  • Consistent moisture
  • Shallow sowing
  • Fine growing medium
  • Good drainage
  • Seed freshness

Avoid:

Allowing the seed-starting medium to dry completely or remain waterlogged.

Ideal Germination Temperature

Recommended germination temperature:

15–20°C

This temperature range encourages:

Healthy and relatively uniform germination.

After germination:

Provide good light and fresh air to encourage sturdy young seedlings.

Transplanting

When seedlings become large enough to handle and have developed several true leaves:

Transplant carefully into pots, grow bags or prepared flower beds.

Handle roots gently and water after transplanting.

Allow young plants to become established before exposing them to unnecessary stress.

Plant Spacing

Maintain approximately:

30–45 cm / 12–18 inches between plants.

This provides sufficient room for:

Healthy clump development, good airflow and strong flowering stems.

Ox Eye Daisy is a perennial capable of expanding over time, so adequate spacing is particularly useful in permanent beds.

Sunlight

Provide:

Full sun to partial shade.

For strongest flowering in Pakistan's cool season:

Approximately 5–6+ hours of direct sunlight daily

is recommended where possible.

Ox Eye Daisy flowers best in good sunlight but can tolerate some light shade.

Watering

Keep young plants:

Moderately and consistently moist during establishment.

After plants become established:

Water when the upper soil layer begins to dry.

Avoid:

Standing water and continuously saturated soil.

The ideal condition is:

Moist but well-drained soil.

Feeding

At planting time, incorporate a moderate amount of:

GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost 🔗

into the growing medium.

Ox Eye Daisy generally performs well in:

Moderately fertile soil enriched with organic matter.

Avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer because it may encourage:

Excessive leafy growth instead of balanced flowering.

Flowering & Maintenance

Ox Eye Daisy produces:

Classic white daisy flowers with bright yellow centres on upright stems.

For a healthy and prolonged display:

  • Provide adequate sunlight
  • Maintain moderate soil moisture
  • Ensure good drainage
  • Avoid overcrowding
  • Avoid excessive nitrogen
  • Remove faded flowers regularly

Deadheading spent flowers

helps keep plants tidy and can encourage continued flower production. RHS also recommends regular deadheading.

Because this is a perennial:

Established clumps can continue growing for more than one season under suitable conditions.
