Add colour and variety to your winter kitchen garden with this unusual 3 Colour Carrot Mix from Franchi Sementi, Italy.
Instead of producing only the traditional orange carrot, this mixture contains varieties that develop attractive:
Orange carrots
White carrots
Yellow carrots
The mix consists of medium-early carrot varieties with vigorous growth and good productivity. The roots are crisp and suitable for fresh eating as well as everyday kitchen use.
The three contrasting colours make this variety especially attractive for home gardeners who want something different from ordinary orange carrots.
The harvested carrots can be used for:
Fresh salads
Soups
Roasting
Vegetable dishes
Juices
Pickling and preserving
Colourful food presentation
Home kitchen use
For the plains of Pakistan, including Lahore and similar warm-climate areas, the recommended sowing period is:
October to December
Carrots grow best during cooler weather. Avoid sowing during periods of excessive heat, as high soil temperatures can reduce germination and root quality.
Recommended Temperature: 15°C to 28°C
Cool to moderately warm conditions encourage healthy leaf growth and better root development.
14–21 days
Germination time may vary according to soil temperature, moisture and seed depth.
This mix gives home gardeners the opportunity to harvest different coloured carrots from the same sowing. The orange, white and yellow roots create an attractive harvest while providing the same practical uses as conventional carrots.
It is especially suitable for:
Home kitchen gardens
Raised vegetable beds
Deep pots
Terrace gardens
Rooftop gardens

Choose a location receiving approximately 6–8 hours of sunlight per day.
Carrots can be grown in:
Open ground
Raised beds
Deep containers
Grow bags
For containers, use sufficient soil depth so the roots can develop freely.
Carrots require loose, light and well-drained soil.
The soil should be soft, crumbly, free from stones, well drained and deep enough for root development.
Mix well-rotted vermicompost into the soil before sowing. Vermicompost helps improve soil structure, keeps the soil soft and loose for better root development, and adds gentle organic nutrients that support healthy carrot growth.
Avoid compacted or heavy soil because it may result in short, forked or misshapen carrots.
Avoid adding fresh manure immediately before sowing.
Carrots generally perform best when direct-sown where they will grow.
Avoid transplanting seedlings because disturbing the young taproot may cause malformed carrots.
Sow seeds approximately:
0.5–1 cm deep
Cover lightly with fine soil.
Do not bury carrot seeds too deeply.
Water gently after sowing.
Keep the upper soil layer consistently moist during germination, but avoid waterlogging.
Because carrot seeds are small and germinate gradually, allowing the surface to dry completely can reduce germination.
Expected germination:
14–21 days
Recommended growing temperature:
15°C–28°C
Once seedlings are established, remove excess plants gradually.
Maintain approximately:
3–5 cm spacing between plants
This gives individual carrot roots enough room to develop properly.
Keep the soil evenly moist throughout the growing period.
Avoid repeated cycles of:
very dry soil → excessive watering
Inconsistent moisture can affect healthy root development and may lead to poor-quality or cracked roots.
Use moderate and balanced nutrition.
Avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer because it may produce lush foliage at the expense of good root development.
Carrots generally benefit from soil with adequate phosphorus and potassium to support healthy root formation.
Harvest when the roots reach a useful mature size.
Depending on weather, variety and growing conditions, this medium-early carrot mix can normally be harvested approximately 90–95 days after sowing.
Loosen the soil gently around mature roots before pulling them to avoid breaking the carrots.
