Choose well-drained, fertile soil enriched with organic compost or manure. Bitter gourd thrives best in loamy soil with good moisture retention.
The best time to sow in Pakistan is from February to June (spring-summer season). In mild climates, you can also sow again from August to September.
Sow seeds 1 inch deep in soil, keeping a distance of 2–3 feet between plants and 4–5 feet between rows. Water lightly after sowing.
Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Water 2–3 times per week depending on the weather.
Ensure full sunlight exposure for at least 6–8 hours daily for optimal growth.
Apply organic compost or balanced fertilizer (NPK 10-10-10) every 2–3 weeks to promote flowering and fruit development.
Fruits are ready to harvest in 55–65 days after sowing. Pick the gourds when they are still small, green, and tender for the best taste.
