Grow fresh Beetroot at home from seeds. Beetroot is a cool-season root vegetable valued for its deep red roots, tender young leaves and versatile kitchen use.
Ideal for kitchen gardens, raised beds, pots and GREEN GARDENS Grow Bags. For smooth root development, use a loose growing medium prepared with GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost and Bhalu Mitti, and avoid hard or compacted soil.

Beetroot is a popular winter root vegetable grown for its rounded to slightly elongated deep red roots and edible leafy tops.
Plants develop a leafy rosette above the soil while the swollen root forms below ground. Beetroot is well suited to home gardening because it can be direct-sown and grown successfully in beds, containers and grow bags.
Beetroot can be used in:
Young beet leaves may also be cooked like other leafy greens.

Use:
50% Vermicompost + 50% Bhalu Mitti (Sandy Soil)
Mix thoroughly before sowing.
The growing medium should be:
Avoid fresh manure and excessive nitrogen, as these may encourage leafy growth instead of proper root development.
1. Prepare the Growing Medium
Mix 50% Vermicompost + 50% Bhalu Mitti thoroughly.
Remove stones and hard clods and prepare a fine, loose surface.
2. Sow Directly
Beetroot is best direct-sown into its final growing location.
Sow approximately:
1.5–2 cm deep
Cover lightly with fine soil.
3. Water Gently
Water after sowing and keep the growing medium consistently moist during germination.
Avoid waterlogging.
4. Germination
Seeds generally germinate within:
5–14 days
under suitable conditions.
5. Light Requirements
Provide approximately 5–6+ hours of sunlight daily.
6. Thin the Seedlings
Because one beetroot seed cluster may produce more than one seedling, thinning is important.
Maintain approximately:
8–10 cm between plants
for good root development.
7. Watering
Maintain regular and even soil moisture.
Avoid prolonged dryness, especially while roots are expanding.
8. Feeding
The recommended growing medium already contains Vermicompost.
Additional GREEN GARDENS Vermicompost may be applied lightly if required.
Avoid excessive nitrogen feeding.
9. General Care
Keep the growing area free from weeds and avoid disturbing the developing roots.
Maintain good drainage and consistent moisture.
10. Harvesting
Harvest once roots reach a useful size and remain firm and tender.
Smaller roots are often especially tender.
Do not leave mature beetroot in the soil for too long, as over-mature roots may become tougher or fibrous.
