Spinach F1 Hybrid Broadleaf is a vigorous late-season variety that produces broad, tender and nutritious green leaves. It is suitable for summer and monsoon sowing and performs well in grow bags, raised beds, rooftop gardens and kitchen gardens.
With proper soil, moisture and sunlight, the plants provide a productive harvest of fresh leaves suitable for cooking, salads and regular home use.
Sowing season: 20 June to 15 August
Sowing method: Sow seeds directly in the final grow bag or soil bed; do not prepare seedlings. Soak seeds in clean water for 4–5 hours before sowing. Sow approximately ½ inch deep and cover lightly with soil.
Recommended grow bags:
24 × 12 inches
36 × 12 inches
Seeds may be sown in rows or spread evenly. Avoid overcrowding and thin excess seedlings after germination.
Soil: Use rich, soft and well-draining soil:
50% Bhalu Mitti
50% organic matter, preferably vermicompost
Sunlight: Provide approximately 4–6 hours of morning sunlight. During extreme heat, protect young plants from harsh afternoon sun.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Use gentle watering to avoid displacing seeds and young seedlings.
Feeding: Mix vermicompost into the soil before sowing. Apply a light, balanced vegetable fertilizer during active growth if required. Avoid excessive fertilizer application.
Care: Maintain good airflow, remove weeds and overcrowded plants, and inspect regularly for aphids, leaf miners, caterpillars and fungal problems.
Harvesting: Begin harvesting tender outer leaves when they reach a suitable size. Leave the central growing point intact for repeated harvesting. Regular picking encourages fresh leaf production.
Quick Summary: Direct sowing, soft fertile soil, consistent moisture, proper thinning and protection from intense afternoon heat are essential for healthy broadleaf spinach.
