RADISH 40 DAYS is a fast-growing late-season white radish variety that produces smooth, long and crisp roots under suitable growing conditions. It is ideal for grow bags, containers, raised beds and kitchen gardens. The variety is valued for its quick maturity, good yield and tolerance to warm-season cultivation.
📢Important Note: The seeds are Thiram-treated for protection against certain seed-borne and soil-borne fungal problems. Treated seeds are strictly for sowing and must not be consumed.
Sowing season: 20 June to 15 August
Sowing method: Sow directly in the final container; do not transplant. Soaking is not essential for radish seeds, but they may be soaked for 2–4 hours for quicker germination. Sow approximately ½ inch deep and maintain proper spacing.
Grow bag: Suitable sizes include:
12 × 12 inches
24 × 12 inches
36 × 12 inches
Use a container with sufficient depth and good drainage.
Soil: Prepare loose, soft and stone-free soil:
50% Bhalu Mitti
50% organic matter, preferably vermicompost
Hard or compacted soil may cause bent, forked or poorly shaped roots.
Spacing: Thin overcrowded seedlings after germination, maintaining approximately 3–4 inches between plants.
Sunlight: Provide around 5–6 hours of morning sunlight. Protect young plants from harsh afternoon sun during extreme heat.
Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged. Irregular watering may cause hard, cracked or strongly flavoured roots.
Feeding: Vermicompost in the soil is generally sufficient during early growth. Avoid excessive nitrogen, as it may produce more leaves and weak root development.
Care: Maintain good airflow, remove weeds and inspect regularly for aphids, leaf-eating insects and fungal problems.
Harvesting: Harvest approximately 35–45 days after sowing, depending on weather and growing conditions. Pull the roots while they are young, smooth and tender; delayed harvesting may make them hard or pithy.
Quick Summary: Direct sowing, loose deep soil, 3–4-inch plant spacing, even moisture and timely harvesting are essential for straight, tender white radishes.
