Hot climate areas: September to November
Cold climate areas: April to July
Avoid sowing in extreme heat, as radish performs better in mild to cool weather.
Prepare a soft, loose, and well-draining soil mix. Radish grows best when the soil is not hard or compact because roots need space to develop properly. For containers, use a rich and soft soil mix with good organic matter.
Sow the seeds directly in the final pot, grow bag, or soil bed. Do not transplant radish seedlings, because transplanting can disturb root development.
Sow seeds about ½ inch deep in moist soil. Keep plant-to-plant distance around 3 to 4 inches. For round radish, proper spacing helps the roots develop better shape and size.
After sowing, water gently and keep the soil moist until germination. Seeds usually germinate within a few days in suitable weather. Once seedlings appear, provide good sunlight and maintain regular watering.
Use a 12x12 inch G-12 grow bag for container growing. You can grow around 5 to 6 plants in one 12x12 inch grow bag if spacing is managed properly.
Radish needs good sunlight for healthy growth. Give at least 4 to 6 hours of sunlight daily. In warmer areas, morning sunlight is better.
Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Irregular watering may affect root quality. Avoid letting the soil become completely dry for long periods.
Use soft, loose, fertile, and well-draining soil. Avoid heavy clay soil and fresh manure, as these can affect root shape and quality.
Harvest when the roots reach a suitable size. Do not leave mature radish in the soil for too long, as quality and taste may be affected. For best flavour and texture, harvest fresh and use soon after picking.
