Sowing Season:
Optimal Sowing Time in Pakistan: October to December
Balcony Petunias thrive in cooler temperatures and can bloom beautifully during winter months.
Growing Instructions:
Soil Preparation:
Use well-draining soil, enriched with compost or organic matter.
Add 50% compost and 50% sandy soil (Bhall).
Slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 6.0 - 7.0) works best.
Sowing Seeds:
Sow seeds in seed trays or small pots.
Lightly press seeds into the soil surface; do not cover completely as Petunia seeds need light for germination.
Keep soil moist but avoid waterlogging.
Germination:
Seeds germinate in 7 - 14 days under temperatures of 18 - 22°C.
Maintain moderate humidity for best results.
Transplanting:
Once seedlings have 2 - 3 true leaves, transplant them into pots, hanging baskets, or garden beds.
Space plants 15 - 20 cm apart to allow proper growth.
Care & Maintenance:
Place plants in full sunlight for at least 5 - 6 hours daily.
Water moderately, allowing the soil to dry slightly between watering.
Fertilize every 3 - 4 weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer to encourage blooming.
Remove faded flowers (deadheading) to stimulate continuous flowering.
Additional Tips:
Balcony Petunias are perfect for containers, window boxes, or hanging baskets.
They are hardy in winter and add bright color to your home even in cooler months.
