Grow fresh, sweet, and tender green peas at home with these quality Peas Seeds, suitable for home gardens, kitchen gardens, raised beds, and large containers in Pakistan.
Peas (مٹر) are a popular cool-season vegetable valued for their fresh taste and versatility in everyday cooking. The plants produce attractive green pods filled with round, tender peas. With suitable winter temperatures, fertile soil, regular moisture, and proper support, they can provide a rewarding seasonal harvest.
Germination and crop performance may vary depending on seed storage, weather, soil condition, watering, sowing depth, and overall growing care.
Use loose, fertile, and well-draining soil enriched with compost, vermicompost, or other well-decomposed organic matter. A soil pH between 6.0 and 7.5 is generally suitable.
Avoid heavy or compacted soil that remains waterlogged, as excessive moisture may affect seed germination and root development.
Peas are generally best sown directly in their final growing location.
For container gardening, use a sufficiently deep and wide pot or grow bag with proper drainage. Provide a trellis, net, or bamboo support as the plants begin to climb.
Place the plants where they can receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. Good sunlight supports healthy growth, flowering, and pod formation.
Keep the soil evenly moist but never soggy. Water when the upper layer of soil begins to feel slightly dry.
Avoid excessive watering, particularly during flowering and pod development. Good drainage and airflow help maintain healthier plants.
Under favourable conditions, seeds may begin germinating within approximately 7 to 10 days. Cooler temperatures, deep sowing, dry soil, or excess moisture may delay germination.
Pea plants develop climbing vines and benefit from early support. Install a trellis, garden net, string support, or bamboo frame before the plants become large. This keeps the vines organised, improves airflow, and makes harvesting easier.
Pods may become ready for harvesting approximately 60 to 80 days after sowing, depending on temperature and growing conditions.
Harvest when the pods are bright green, well-filled, tender, and firm. Regular picking may encourage the plants to continue producing additional pods.
Freshly harvested peas can be used in curries, rice dishes, soups, mixed vegetables, salads, and many other home-cooked recipes.
