Approximately 30–40 seeds per pack.
GALA 455 is a vigorous F1 hybrid okra variety suitable for late-season sowing. It produces tender, uniform green pods and performs well under warm growing conditions.
Suitable for rooftop gardens, kitchen gardens, grow bags, raised beds and open-ground cultivation.
Sowing season:
20 June to 15 August
Sowing method:
Sow directly in the final growing container or soil bed. Soak the seeds in clean water for 4–5 hours before sowing. Sow approximately 1 inch deep and maintain about 8–10 inches of spacing between plants.
Recommended grow-bag sizes:
24 × 12 inches
36 × 12 inches
45 × 12 inches
Avoid overcrowding and make sure the container has adequate drainage.
Soil:
Use rich, soft and well-draining soil. A recommended mixture is:
50% Bhalu Mitti
50% organic matter, preferably vermicompost
Sunlight:
Provide approximately 6–8 hours of sunlight. During very hot weather, protect newly sown containers from harsh afternoon sunlight until the seedlings are established.
Watering:
Keep the soil evenly moist without making it waterlogged. Water again when the upper layer of soil begins to dry.
Feeding:
Mix vermicompost into the soil before sowing. During active growth, apply a suitable vegetable fertilizer according to its labelled instructions. Avoid excessive fertilizer application.
Plant care:
Maintain proper spacing and good airflow. Remove yellow, dry or damaged leaves when required.
Harvesting:
Harvest the pods while they are young and tender, preferably at approximately 3–5 inches in length. Frequent harvesting encourages continued pod production.
Seeds are intended for sowing only. Do not use them for food, feed or any other form of consumption. Keep out of the reach of children and animals.
Pack quantity: Approximately 30–40 seeds.
