Nemophila maculata, commonly known as Five Spot, is a charming winter annual known for its unique white flowers with five purple-blue spots-one on each petal. These low-growing, spreading plants create a beautiful carpet of blooms, perfect for borders, pots, walkways, and ground cover. The flowers are delicate, eye-catching, and ideal for adding a soft, colorful look to winter gardens. Five Spot is easy to grow, fast-blooming, and suitable for all gardeners.

Sowing Season (Winter):

• Best Sowing Time in Pakistan: October to January

• Performs well in cool and mild winter weather.

Growing Instructions:

1. Soil Preparation:

• Use well-drained, loose and fertile soil.

• Add 50% vermicompost and 50% sandy soil (Bhall). 

• Slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0 - 7.0) is ideal.

2. Sowing Seeds:

• Seeds can be directly sown in the garden or in pots.

• Lightly scatter seeds on soil and press gently-do not bury deeply.

• Cover with a very thin layer of soil (not more than 0.5 cm).

• Water lightly to keep soil moist.

3. Germination:

• Seeds germinate in 10 - 15 days at 10 - 18 °C.

• Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.

4. Transplanting:

• If started in trays, transplant when seedlings have 2 - 3 true leaves.

• Space plants 15 - 20 cm apart to allow spreading.

5. Care & Maintenance:

• Prefers full sun to partial shade.

• Water regularly but avoid overwatering.

• Apply a mild fertilizer once a month for better blooming.

• Remove weeds to allow plants to spread naturally.
