5 Seeds in the Pack

Morning Glory Red Picotee is a beautiful climbing annual vine that produces large, trumpet-shaped flowers with rich red centers and elegant white-edged (picotee) margins. The striking contrast of red and white makes this variety a standout choice for decorative gardens, balconies, fences, arches, and pergolas.
It opens its flowers in the early morning and blooms continuously throughout the summer season. This fast-growing variety performs very well in Pakistan’s warm climate and is easy to grow from seed.

Growing Instructions

1. Sunlight

  • Requires full sun (6–8 hours daily) for best growth and flowering.

  • Well-drained, fertile soil (garden soil mixed with compost or organic matter).

  • Ideal pH: 6.0 – 7.5.

3. Seed Preparation

  • Soak seeds in clean water for 8–12 hours before sowing to improve germination.

4. Sowing Method

  • Sow seeds directly in the ground or in large pots.

  • Sowing depth: 1–1.5 cm

  • Plant spacing: 30–45 cm

  • Germination: 7–10 days in warm weather.

5. Watering

  • Keep soil moist until seedlings establish.

  • After establishment, water 2–3 times a week; daily during extreme heat.

6. Support

  • Provide trellis, net, fence, or bamboo stakes for the vines to climb.

7. Fertilizer

  • Mix well-rotted compost or manure into soil before planting.

  • Apply balanced fertilizer (NPK 10-10-10) every 3–4 weeks.

  • Avoid excess nitrogen to encourage more flowers and fewer leaves.

8. Flowering & Care

  • Flowering begins about 4–6 weeks after sowing.

  • Remove faded flowers and weak shoots for continuous blooming.

  • Control aphids and mites with neem oil or mild insecticidal soap if required.

Uses

  • Ideal for fences, walls, arches, pergolas, balconies, and vertical gardens.

  • Adds a bold red-and-white color contrast and attracts butterflies and pollinators.
