Grow fresh Desi Cucumber at home with GREEN GARDENS quality seeds. This traditional cucumber variety produces long, green, naturally speckled cucumbers with a fresh taste and crisp texture, suitable for kitchen gardening, rooftop gardening, grow bags, pots, and home vegetable gardens.
Cucumber Desi is a warm-season vegetable that grows well on vines with proper sunlight, regular watering, and support. It can be grown in soil beds, raised beds, or large containers. For best results, provide a trellis or support so the vines can climb easily and the fruits remain clean and well-shaped.

Avoid sowing during extreme cold, frost, or very hot dry weather.
Use rich, soft, and well-draining soil. A good mix is:
50% garden soil + 50% organic matter / compost / vermicompost
For grow bags and pots, make sure water drains easily. Cucumber plants do not like standing water.
For home gardening, grow in:
12×12 inch grow bag or bigger
One healthy plant per 12×12 grow bag is recommended.
For better growth, use a trellis, net, bamboo sticks, or vertical support.
Sow seeds about:
1 inch deep
You can sow 2 seeds in one spot and keep the stronger seedling after germination.
Cucumber plants need:
5–7 hours of direct sunlight daily
Morning sun is best during hot weather.
Keep the soil evenly moist, especially during flowering and fruiting.
Avoid overwatering and do not let the soil stay soggy.
Cucumber is a vining plant. Provide support early so the plant can climb naturally. This helps improve air circulation and keeps fruits cleaner.
After the plant starts growing well, add compost or balanced organic fertilizer every 15–20 days. Avoid excessive nitrogen because it may increase leaves but reduce fruiting.
Cucumber plants produce yellow flowers. Bees and insects help in pollination. In low-pollination areas, gently hand pollination can help fruit setting.
Harvest cucumbers when they are young, fresh, and tender. Regular harvesting encourages the plant to keep producing more fruits.
Do not allow the soil to dry completely during fruiting.
Do not keep the plant in shade.
Avoid overhead watering in the evening.
Provide good airflow around the plant.
Remove damaged or yellow leaves when needed.
