Growing Instructions

1. Soil Preparation

• Use light, well-drained, slightly sandy soil

• Avoid heavy clay (poor germination)

• Loosen soil and remove weeds before sowing

2. Sowing the Seeds

• Sow directly in the garden; poppies dislike transplanting

• Do NOT cover seeds with heavy soil (they need light to germinate)

• Press lightly on soil surface

• Germination: 7–20 days

• Keep soil gently moist until seedlings appear

3. Watering

• Water lightly and regularly

• Keep soil slightly moist

• Avoid overwatering (can cause rot)

4. Sunlight

• Needs full sun for maximum flowering

• Minimum 6 hours sunlight daily

5. Fertilizer

• Does not need heavy feeding

• Mix a small amount of compost in soil before planting

• Avoid strong fertilizers

6. Flowering

• Blooms from February to May

• Flowers last longer in cool weather
