Agapanthus ‘Blue Sky’, also known as Lily of the Nile, is a spectacular perennial with deep violet-purple, trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom on tall, elegant stems. Each bulb produces lush, green, strap-like leaves that form a dense clump, making it an excellent choice for garden borders, containers, and walkways.
Highly heat-tolerant and long-lived, Agapanthus (Blue Sky) thrives beautifully in Pakistan’s sunny climate, adding a luxurious and tropical look to any garden. Once established, it blooms reliably each summer with minimal care.
1. Best Planting Time:
Late winter to early spring (February–April) or autumn (October-November) in mild regions.
2. Soil Requirements:
Use a well-draining mix: 1 part garden soil + 1 part sand + 1 part compost.
Slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0–7.0) is ideal.
3. Planting Depth:
Plant bulb 2 inches deep with the pointed side facing up.
Maintain 10–12 inches spacing between bulbs.
4. Sunlight & Watering:
Sunlight: Prefers full sun but tolerates partial shade.
Watering: Keep soil lightly moist during active growth; avoid overwatering.
5. Fertilization:
Feed every 3–4 weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season.
6. Care & Maintenance:
Blooming Time: Summer (June–August).
Remove faded blooms to encourage new growth.
In winter, protect bulbs from frost by moving pots indoors or applying mulch.
