Red Capsicum (شملہ مرچ لال) is a premium sweet bell pepper variety prized for its bright red color, crisp texture, and rich, sweet flavor. The fruits are thick-walled, glossy, and full-bodied — perfect for salads, stuffing, roasting, and stir-fries.
This high-yielding hybrid-type variety grows vigorously and produces uniform fruits with excellent shelf life. Ideal for pots, raised beds, and open fields, it performs beautifully in Pakistan’s warm climate when properly watered and fertilized.
1. Soil:
Fertile, well-drained loamy soil enriched with compost or organic fertilizer. Ideal pH: 6.0–7.0.
2. Sowing Time (Pakistan):
Best grown from October - November and February, March.
3. Sowing Method:
Sow seeds ¼ inch deep in nursery trays or seed pots.
Transplant after 4–5 weeks, when seedlings are 5–6 inches tall.
Maintain 18 inches between plants and 24 inches between rows.
4. Watering:
Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Consistent watering helps fruit formation.
5. Sunlight:
Requires 6–8 hours of full sunlight daily.
6. Germination Time:
Seeds germinate in 8–12 days at temperatures between 25–30°C.
7. Harvesting:
Fruits mature in 70–90 days after transplanting. Harvest when peppers turn deep red and firm for best flavor.
